<para xml:id="p2">A small trickle of readers ask for more information about how
this site is built, and about the software that I use to build it.
Often they ask if the software is available as a package of some sort.</para>

<para xml:id="p3">The answer to that question is, <quote>yes and no.</quote></para>

<para xml:id="p4">Yes, the software has been available since day one, it's all
right here. Start with the <link xlink:href="/Makefile">Makefile</link> and
follow the dependencies. All the bits are online. (You'll need
<application>Perl</application> and
<application>Python</application> and
<application>CWM</application> and an <application>Apache</application>
web server and possibly <application>jpegrdf</application>; you
can find those on the net.)</para>

<para xml:id="p5">But, no, I'm not going to package it up. For one thing, I'm
still learning and I want the freedom to tear things apart and rebuild
them without concern for someone else's legacy. But mostly I find that
I'm at the very edge of what I can accomplish in the way of personal
projects. There just aren't enough hours in the day. I'm already
neglecting a few things to find the time to write for this site. If I
made a project out of maintaining this software for public
consumption, something else would have to give and I'm still too
attached to all the something else's to let go of one.</para>

<para xml:id="p6">That said, if you get stuck, I'll try to be helpful.</para>
