<para xml:id="p2">Summer at last! Although I expect no sympathy from my friends
and colleagues in the pacific northwest, it has been an unseasonably
wet, gray spring in New England. There are reasons I don't live up there,
and four days of sunshine in some months is one of them.</para>

<para xml:id="p3">Anyway, I'm happy to report that the pots on the deck have
started to recover.</para>
