<para xml:id="p1">I like L.A. I wasn’t predisposed to; its reputation of
smog, traffic jams, and contempt for anyone less famous than God<indexterm>
<primary>God</primary>

not fill me with enthusiasm. But there’s a lot to do and it was
enjoyable and interesting in its own way. There are sure a lot of
things we didn’t do, and I look forward to going back to do some
more.</para>

<para xml:id="p2">That said, the sky <emphasis>is</emphasis> brown. I couldn’t
live there. And yes, the traffic is painful. But for what it’s worth,
I found everyone friendly and helpful. I didn’t really encounter
that many people, though, so maybe I got lucky.</para>

so I don’t have any shots to show from the studio tour, but it was interesting.
I have a new appreciation for the complexity of effort required to film
something.</para>

<para xml:id="p4">It was really funny to see TV sets as these little rooms with
four walls and no ceiling constructed inside enormous sound stages.

courtrooms? Paint on plywood. And all the panoramic city views you see
through the windows of a big shot’s office? Thirty-five foot high
digital prints or paintings on canvas a few short feet on the other
side of that window.</para>
