<p>Gaiman is one of the finest fiction writers alive today.  You may want to also check out "Stardust".  The Sandman graphic novels are very well written, but a bit darker and more disturbing than his "traditional" novels.  
You may also enjoy Clive Barker&amp;apos;s later work (post "Books of Blood" and horror  novels).</p>
