Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the happy couples getting married in Massachusetts today.

There is no subject on which more dangerous nonsense is talked and thought than marriage.

George Bernard Shaw

Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the happy couples getting married in Massachusetts today.

A word of practical advice: there are a whole lot of you getting married today; next year, make your reservations for anniversary celebrations early.

Deb and I got married very close to Mother’s Day, a fact of which we failed spectacularly to have any awareness, and getting a good table at a nice restaurant that first year was rather more stressful than would have been ideal. We’ve always been careful to make reservations early ever since.

Comments:

Gale and I got married in Greenwich Village on Halloween (we had started going together on or about Halloween five years before), which meant that some people had trouble getting to the wedding, since they had to bypass the Village Halloween parade.

Now everyone just wants to know if we wore costumes. Nope. Just green raw silk with yellow trim (her dress, my shirt).
