<para xml:id="p1"><link xlink:href="http://www.holyoke.org/wistariahurst.htm">Wistariahurst</link>
is a charming little museum in Holyoke, MA. Constructed by William
Skinner, who ran a profitable silk mill, it was moved to Holyoke from
it’s original location in Skinnerville in the 1800’s.</para>

<para xml:id="p2">We visited it on Sunday and I foolishly left my camera at home,
so I can’t show you the dramatic marble lions that guard the entrance,
the beautiful parquet floors, the fabulous staircase with its
intricate, blossoming rose detail, or any of the fine appointments in
the rooms. I thought I was going to be able to show you a low
resolution picture of the peacock stained glass window in the solarium
that I snapped with the camera on my phone. Except, apparently I
didn’t. Or it didn’t get saved. Or something.</para>

<para xml:id="p3">They give small, public concerts in the music room and I bet
they’re delightful; certainly the acoustics are very good. And If you
happen to be getting married in the greater Holyoke area, that
fabulous staircase is available for wedding portraiture. I
encourage you to go take a look. Especially when the Wisteria are in bloom.</para>

<para xml:id="p4">P.S. Long time, no essay. I’ve been hacking about a bit with the
back end. I’m going to support a few HTML tags in comments and the
ability to subscribe to comments, probably as Atom feeds.</para>
