<para xml:id='p1'>I really like my ISP, my real one,
<link xlink:href="http://www.berkshire.net/">BerkshireNet</link>, not the cable
company that actually sends bits into my house these days. They've
always been good to me and it seems only fair to return the courtesy.
I'm hogging more than my share of disk space for my current level of
service, so I'm moving things around.</para>

<para xml:id='p2'>The cheapest way for me to fix the problem is to move
<link xlink:href="http://docbook.org/">docbook.org</link> down into my closet.
I'm gambling that the added traffic on that machine won't cause it,
or its connection to the web, to meltdown. If I lose that gamble,
I'll have to find some other answer.</para>

<para xml:id='p3'>I'm only telling you this for two reasons:</para>

<para xml:id='p4'>There may be some glitches in service for
<link xlink:href="http://docbook.org/">docbook.org</link> at some point in
the next few days as the DNS gets moved around. It may also very
occasionally fall off the net as
<link xlink:href="http://norman.walsh.name/">norman.walsh.name</link> does when
the cable company reconfigures my IP address and for whatever reason
the automatic update tool doesn't fire. (That happens, but so infrequently
that I've been unable to debug it.)</para>
<para xml:id='p5'>I suppose, if I do lose that gamble, it could fall off the web
for a while. But I'll certainly be blogging a plea for help if it does.
If you're reading this, you'll likely read that too.</para>

<para xml:id='p6'>If you have a couple of hundred megabytes of disk space and
some connectivity to give away, maybe it's time to setup some mirrors.
Send me mail if you're interested.</para>

<para xml:id='p7'>This has been a public service announcement. We now return you
to your regularly scheduled reading, already in progress…</para>
