    <p>And how about the W3C <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/NOTE-xbc-characterization-20050331/">recommendation</a> "that the W3C produce a 'binary XML' recommendation"--that's right up there with <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.apps.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3252.html">RFC 3252!</a></p>

<p>Oh wait, they made that announcement yesterday. Never mind. </p>

    <p>Bob, be careful not to imply to the rest of the world that there is a "W3C recommendation" about binary XML.  There is a working group Note that advocates creating a working group to create a W3C Recommendation :-) The Apocolypse is several April Fools Days away, at best/worst.</p>

    <p>I had wondered if people would think I meant "Recommendation," but I did use a lower-case "r", as did the full sentence I was quoting from at http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/NOTE-xbc-characterization-20050331/#intro: </p>

<p>"We recommend that the W3C proceed to produce such a recommendation." </p>

<p>My opinion remains the one at <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ibiblio.org/xml/quotes2004.html#quote2004November26">http://www.ibiblio.org/xml/quotes2004.html#quote2004November26</a>, which I was happy to see Elliotte use. (It does indirectly quote Mike.)</p>
