Uh, ok, look at that peeper! More Spring peeper photographs.

After the blurry results on my late night foray to get peeper pictures, I thought I'd try again. And then spring had rolled into summer and I decided it was a project that would have to wait until next spring. You can only imagine my surprise when I found a peeper in the yard yesterday.

I was mowing the lawn and I'd already moved several Wood Frogs out of harms way when another little brown frog jumped up from the grass. I assumed it was a wood frog, but close inspection revealed it was something else.

It is very unusual to encounter Spring Peepers after the breeding season: they're very small and quite secretive. (Hey, if you were an ideal snack size for just about everything out there, you'd be secretive too.)
