<para xml:id="p1">You see, I really wanted to emphasis
“<emphasis>you</emphasis>” in the summary of

    </footnote> and I couldn't.
Because I refuse to
<link xlink:href="http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2003/08/20/embedded.html">escape markup</link>.
And RSS forces you to escape markup if you use it.</para>

<para xml:id="p2">So I'm declaring that
<link xlink:href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atom_%28standard%29">Atom</link>
has been a standard long enough for adoption and I'm going to discontinue
publishing RSS feeds. Then I can have my emphasis and my markup when
I want it.</para>
