<para xml:id="p2">A couple of years ago, I replaced the exterior doors
on our house. There was nothing particularly wrong with the old doors,
they were just rather stark and utilitarian. We replaced them with
more attractive doors with larger and more interesting windows.</para>

<para xml:id="p3">That left me with two heavy, metal doors I didn't
want. It didn't seem likely that I could sell them, but I hate taking
perfectly useful items to the land fill. It's just stupid to pay money
to bury useful objects in the ground. Stupid and ecologically
irresponsible.</para>

<para xml:id="p4">So they hung around in the basement, mocking me
everytime I walked past them. Years passed and I was no nearer to
disposing of them.</para>

<para xml:id="p5">Then something reminded me about “freecycling” which
I think I'd heard about once and then forgotten. So I found a local
mailing list and offered the doors.</para>

<para xml:id="p6">A couple of weeks later, they're out of my basement.
I'm happy, The folks who carted them away are happy, and I haven't
added anything to the landfill. Win. Win. Win.</para>

<para xml:id="p7">And I'm still hoping someone will come and take the
<emphasis>M+S P205/70R14 93S</emphasis> studded snow tires left over
from my old truck.</para>
