He can write, too.

If your only experience of Hugh Laurie is as the miserable, temperamental, misanthropic physician on House, it's possible that you are unaware he's a spectacularly good comedian.

If that's the case, seek out immediately A Bit of Fry and Laurie, any of the Jeeves and Wooster adaptations of the P. G. Wodehouse novels in which he appears, and Blackadder, especially series 3. And anything else comedic as well.

Go on. I'll wait. I promise it'll be far more enjoyable than anything you'll find here.

There. See? I was right, wasn't I?

Now, what you may still be unaware of, and I don't recall how I came to be aware of it, is that Hugh Laurie is also a published author.

If that's the case, seek out immediately The Gun Seller.

Go on. Same promise as before. You won't be disappointed.

Comments:

The Gun Seller is one of my favorite potboiler novels! I keep hoping he'll write a new one, but no luck so far.

Have you read Stephen Fry's novels? He's got several, and each one is weirder than the last but they're quite good.

Last time I looked, there were a fair number of Fry and Laurie bits on youtube. Worth checking out.
