<para xml:id="p1">I want you to <link xlink:href="jabber">jabber me</link>. And I
want to be able to talk to you even if I'm away from my desk. For that
reason, I hope my next mobile phone supports
<wikipedia page="Extensible_Messaging_and_Presence_Protocol">Jabber</wikipedia>.
Until then, I'll
have to keep my AOL ID too, or at least the one I use on my
mobile.</para>

<para xml:id="p2">Speaking of IM on a mobile: I want a GSM mobile phone with a
decent keyboard. One that supports the common PIM functions and gives me open
access to my data. I want decent email, Jabber IM, and a web browser
that doesn't suck.</para>

<para xml:id="p3">The <wikipedia>iPhone</wikipedia> that ain't. The
<wikipedia page="T-Mobile_Sidekick">Sidekick</wikipedia> it sort of is, except for
the open access to my data part and Jabber. I currently get access
to my data via <wikipedia>XML-RPC</wikipedia> (kind of cool) using the
ID of an application that's been discontinued (definitely not cool).</para>

<para xml:id="p4">I wonder if any of the <wikipedia>OpenMoko</wikipedia> designs will
include a keyboard. Or if the <wikipedia page="Helio_Ocean">Helio
Ocean</wikipedia> will be open enough.</para>

<para xml:id="p5">Time will tell, I guess. Until then, inertia will keep me on my
<citetitle>Sidekick II</citetitle> I suppose.</para>
