How do you summarize a week with more than ten thousand Java developers?

New capabilities emerge just by virtue of having smart people with access to state-of-the-art technology.

How do you summarize a week with more than ten thousand Java developers? Not very well, probably.

JavaOne was an enormous conference. I usually go to XML conferences; if we get a couple of thousand attendees, it looks pretty crowded. I don't know how many folks came to JavaOne, but it was definitely a five digit number.

More technology than you can shake a stick at. That's it, that's my poor summary. In the mobile space, in the web services space (JWSDP won an award!), in the application server space, editors, IDEs, debuggers, development frameworks, you name it. Pick your favorite space and someone was there demonstrating how Java is the ideal platform for that space.

I'm convinced.

Full disclosure: I work for Sun, so you're entitled to take my opinion with a grain of salt. It's still true, though :-). I switched to Java long before I joined Sun and I've never looked back.
