01 Dec 2005; last modified 08 Oct 2010

This is the permanent status page for XML Unicode. XML Unicode provides some convenience methods for inserting Unicode characters into XML in Emacs. Version 1.7 is now available.

XML Unicode provides several convenient mechanisms for inserting Unicode characters into XML in Emacs. This version of xmlunicode improves the single-quote cycling, supporting apostrophe in the cycle, and fixes a small dependency bug.

The current release is 1.7 from 01 Dec 2005. This is a stable release; it is implemented in Emacs lisp and runs on any platform that supports GNU Emacs. You can get xmlunicode from its home on nwalsh.com. It is available under the GPL. See More Emacs, XML, & Unicode for a longer description of the features and goals of xmlunicode.

Previous releases:

  • 1.6, from 21 Jul 2004, was a stable release that removed some embarrassing debugging code that accidentally got left in 1.5.

  • 1.5, also from 21 Jul 2004, was (supposed to be) a stable release that fixed a few small bugs and improved support for smart semicolon insertion.

  • 1.4, from 11 Nov 2003, was a stable release that fixed a small bug in smart semicolon insertion.

  • Earlier releases are documented briefly on the XML Unicode home page.

XML Unicode is maintained by Norman Walsh. Please report any bugs that you encounter.

XML Unicode was first announced on 03 Oct 2003.
