Prelude to Spring

Volume 10, Issue 20; 14 Mar 2007; last modified 08 Oct 2010

March is too soon to declare Spring sprung in New England, but the landscape is sure starting to look like Spring. Muddy, in other words.

The snow is receding.

The early bloomers are seeking out the pale sunshine.

And there's mud.

There's mud…everywhere.

In New England (and adjacent regions of NY and Canada) there are three seasons, Snow, Mud, and Flies, and the worst of these is Flies.
