Pub signs and random snaps from Great Britain

Volume 13, Issue 30; 21 Sep 2010; last modified 08 Oct 2010

XML Summer School took me to Oxford a couple of weeks ago. I also visited my mom and did a little work while I was on the other side of the pond.

I'm always delighted when the faculty board invites me to speak at XML Summer School. The talks are always good, the delegates interesting, and the extra-curricular events enjoyable. This year MarkLogic was a sponsor, but I don't think had any bearing on my invitation :-)

Many of my recent trips to England have taken me back to places I've already visited, so it's been a while since I got any new pub signs. On this trip, I travelled north to visit my mom, who's moved, and then back down to London for a couple of days before heading home. Upshot: new signs!

Other miscellaneous images from London:

And Norfolk:

On Sunday, mom and rented a little electric boat and puttered around The Broads for a bit.

Back home, she has the cutest kitten:

Seriously, isn't that the cutest kitten you've ever seen?

Yep... but aren't they all at that age? It's when they're old and mean and rule the roost, that's when to remember how cute they were!

Good photo though N.

The first time I walked past that statue, it suddenly moved. It was quite unnerving.
