Trying out SpiderOak as an alternative to DropBox.—@ndw
@ndw why?—@crichey
@crichey because they don't have the decryption keys for my files.—@ndw

#Natty was the easiest in-place upgrade: not even minor "except for's" this time. #MSFT and #APPL could learn a lot from #Ubuntu.—@david_megginson
@david_megginson Oh, ok, you’ve convinced me. /me runs update-manager -d in his everyday Ubuntu VM—@ndw
@ndw good luck - let me know if you like Unity better than I did.—@david_megginson
@david_megginson Apparently I don’t have the necessary hardware. Maybe after I install vmware-tools.—@ndw
@ndw #Natty has minimum-hardware restrictions?—@david_megginson
@david_megginson @ndw oh, you mean for #Unity. Yeah, turn it off, or look into the Unity-2D package. #Natty—@david_megginson

Doing that last minute thing where I add random items to my suitcase "just in case". Just in case what, I haven't a clue.—@ndw
@ndw In case you need it.. :*D—@grtjn
@ndw Oooh, that better be a large suitcase... XD—@kamen

In a conversation that started on Monday at 09:27am

@ndw which random items? pens, paper, tissues, ... what? :)—@marjoleink
@marjoleink Most recently, a tie and a nice pair of dress slacks. And a pack of AAA batteries and a pair of earbuds. And a bottle opener.—@ndw

I have a big svn repo. I'd like to convert it to git (preserving history) but only keep one "subtree" in the resulting git repo. Possible?—@ndw
@ndw Done it going to Hg.—@ed_davies
@ndw maybe you could filter out the tree before within SVN land using svndumpfilter or something similar?—@martin_probst
@ndw I think you can use the svndumfilter utility first to create a separate SVN repo with just that subtree. Then migrate to git.—@detonator413
@ndw svndumpfilter is the only way I know how. You use that to create a new svn repo that you then convert.—@bphogan
@ndw I have several svn repos, some enormous, that need the same move. Archive and start several fresh git repos is the answer, I think.—@kiniry

IAD concourse A. A reason not to complain about concourses C and D?—@ndw
@ndw Concourse B, a short talk from A, has some solid food options. Harry's is great if you've got the time for sit-down.—@jclip
@jclip thanks for the tip. Escorted my better half over to C4 for her flight to FRA. The new tram is nice.—@ndw
@ndw yep, tram FTW. I still want to buy some surplus "mobile lounges" and open a IAD theme restaurant. #saarinenburger #limitedmarket—@jclip
@jclip that would be awesome!—@ndw

As long as I'm being grouchy, a Canadair RJ 700? To AUS? Really? Because cramped, uncomfortable, and noisy is so nice for 3 1/2 hours.—@ndw
@ndw Funny, I always kind of liked the RJs.—@eliasisrael
@ndw And when you get there it will be too hot. But there will be BBQ.—@ronhitchens
@ronhitchens Yes, there will. And margaritas http://bit.ly/ih3Zj4—@ndw
@ndw One of those margaritas would go great with a #MLUCBurrito—@ronhitchens

@ndw What would it take to use docbook.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/docbook/trunk/xsl2 for real, production work?—@abdelazer
@abdelazer Following the work Jirka and I did as part of GSoC last year, I think they’re in good shape. But at github.com/docbook still.—@ndw

Things I learned in Austin, part the first. I'm never going to love chocolate covered bacon, but it isn't as bad as you might think.—@ndw
@ndw almost everything chocolate covered is delish but sorry chocolate covered bacon sounds disgusting.—@harveybetty
@ndw: What about chicken fried bacon? http://is.gd/py2RSR—@cramerdw

Getting to know docbook again: sect1 or section? #docbook #speccing—@pjkelly5
@pjkelly5 I use section more-or-less exclusively. Sect1..5 lets you limit depth easily and lets you have different content at diff lvls—@ndw
@ndw thanks for the sects advise :)—@pjkelly5
@pjkelly5 docbook?—@smyles
@smyles do you use docbook for specs and requirements docs?—@pjkelly5
@pjkelly5 no, but i've thought about it, especially since i follow @ndw (aka #captaindocbook)—@smyles
@smyles @pjkelly5 *chuckle* #captaindocbook that’s pretty funny. :-)—@ndw
@ndw maybe you could get #captaindocbook on a tee shirt?—@smyles

Note to self: take phone out of pocket before jumping in pool. #notworking #goneswimming #backlater—@ndw
@ndw: Someone once told me you should put the phone in rice (uncooked) if that happens. The rice is supposed to absorb the moisture. #ymmv—@cramerdw

In a conversation that started on Wednesday at 03:59pm

@ndw I have last a few phones in swimming/boating mishaps. Sure is a sinking feeling when the phone hits the water! The phone gasps & dies.—@harveybetty
@harveybetty luckily my note to self preceded the plunge. This time, anyway!—@ndw

"This will be a completely full flight." Upgrade FTW!—@ndw
@ndw Nice. Still, my favourite upgrade is my own chair at home or, if I have to travel, the left seat of my Piper. #flying—@david_megginson
