"The tree is a premature optimization." attributed anonymously to the overlapping markup liberation front. #balisage—@ndw
@ndw @pgfearo #browsers can deal with #overlapping #markup #non #xml (➫ "circle graphs")—@HermannSW
@HermannSW @ndw browser rendering engines still use a visual tree, also - how to show intersect of 2 overlapping elements of same type?—@pgfearo
@HermannSW @ndw Our HTML5 comparator must show where overlaps happen - one way is quickly switching views:—@pgfearo
@pgfearo @ndw Perhaps just with the blue over and underlines leaving normal markup unchanged?—@HermannSW
@HermannSW @ndw yes, I like this - I had used 2 separated underlines with different colors - using CSS shadows - but prefer your idea!—@pgfearo
@HermannSW @ndw A way to show deeply nested markup overlaps is a text dump of the concurrent parser stacks:—@pgfearo

If the Calabash eXist module is a problem, I wonder who is working on it? #balisage—@ndw
@ndw YOU are asking us? Oops. --dal—@dalapeyre
@dalapeyre @ndw Someone should. I would if I could, but I am, as I may have mentioned, not a programmer. ;-)—@sgmlguru
@ndw @sgmlguru Could you post a summary of the issues to exist-open? It would be good to begin to identify what work needs to be done.—@joewiz
@joewiz @sgmlguru I can't, perhaps Ari can. Or @lcahlander—@ndw
@ndw @joewiz @lcahlander I might be able to but I have to check my notes.—@sgmlguru
@sgmlguru @ndw @lcahlander Please do, Ari. I wasn’t aware of problems w/ #existdb’s XProc until your talk. Would be nice to work these out.—@joewiz
@ndw @joewiz @sgmlguru dependencies of Saxon versions. Calabash requires 9.5 and eXist requires 9.4 due to betterFORM.—@lcahlander
@ndw As far as I know no one has for sometime. History seems to be @shabanovd and @windauer. Feel free to contribute—@adamretter
@adamretter @ndw @shabanovd @windauer Didn't @lcahlander contribute as well? I know he mentioned it.—@sgmlguru
@sgmlguru @adamretter @ndw @shabanovd @windauer I looked into it, but have not had the time recently.—@lcahlander

I'm going to guess that moving to XProc on the filesystem was spinning up a new JVM for each pipeline. That always hurts. @sgmlguru—@ndw
@ndw Hurts a lot. You should have seen the Task Manager on the server light up. Still, I liked the idea if not the exact solution.—@sgmlguru

Engineers at play: the NEIM "suspicious activity report" documentation uses as an example an attack on Mr Burns' power plant in Springfield.—@ndw
