On the subject of bay leaves.

Several years ago, I was in England and needed bay leaves for a recipe. I bought two or three in a small (McCormick, I’d guess) jar for what felt like an obscene price.

It felt obscene in part because when I went and trimmed a few small branches off the backyard bay this weekend, I got this:


Shame about the image quality. I took the snap with my mobile phone using Lightroom’s raw format. I exposed to avoid completely blowing out the sunlight but that didn’t really leave enough detail in the shadows.
